The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

Before the universe as we know it existed, there was only consciousness and anti-matter.
This is a mix of science and knowing.

The Tantric version of this is Shiva—pure consciousness that is in everything, vast, unmoving, eternal.
An ocean of awareness with no waves, no ripples, no matter.

And then, because of the desire for more polarity, form came into being, in Tantra we call her Shakti.
She is also known by the name of Maha-Shakti, the Great Mother, the creative pulse of the universe.
When she stirred, the universe was born: and one day, many billions of years later, you were born.

Isn’t that a miracle?

Every particle, every explosion of light, every galaxy spiralling into form—the Big Bang itself—was Shakti entering into union with Shiva.

Their love story is the most ancient myth we carry.

Not simply man and woman, but consciousness and matter, emptiness and fullness, silence and song.

Without Shakti, Shiva remained only potential. Without Shiva, Shakti’s power scattered without form. Together—they are creation.

This is what we mean by Sacred Union.

Yes, it is often used to describe the union between man and woman.

Jesus and Mary Magdalene are the archetype many of us know: their intimacy, their devotion, their ability to see the divine in each other became a symbol of a love that transforms not just two, but all of humanity.

Sacred Union couples throughout time show us what becomes possible when love becomes a spiritual path.

Across traditions, when people speak of Sacred Union couples, five themes always arise:

🌹 A sense of deep spiritual purpose in the bond.
🌹 Emotional transparency and radical truth-telling.
🌹 Sexual intimacy as ceremony, not performance.
🌹 Mutual empowerment—each partner becoming more of who they are.
🌹 A higher vision that the relationship serves beyond itself.

Doesn’t your heart expand upon hearing this? Isn’t there a longing within you to be in Sacred Union?

Well, what we are longing for when we long for this is a frequency. A state of being. Vibrating so high that we bring the Divine into our relationship.

If you long for a Sacred Union lovership, you must study the holy marriage between Spirit and Matter.

The same way Shiva and Shakti became the fabric of existence, every relationship carries the possibility of birthing something new when consciousness and creation entwine.

And yet, in our modern world, Sacred Union remains a thing that only two people can experience together - this can only be said by a person who has never been part of a three-some or any form of group sex.

Some weeks ago, I wrote about Aubrey Marcus', Vylana's, and Alana's 'coming out  story. When they came out as a thrupple, the backlash was instant.

Even I received some of the moral outrage when I shared about this on Facebook. “If it was just about the adults...” people said, “but he wants children with both women, and that’s outrageous.”

And in my own community, students of Sacred Sexuality, unfollowed our teacher Layla Martin simply because she is friends with them.

The ripples of this reveal how little space we give for difference, for experimentation, for following what feels true. It echoes the burning of the witches, when women who dared to heal with plants were destroyed. It echoes the time when love between two men or two women was outlawed. It echoes the story we were all taught—that woman was born from a rib of man, and God could only be “He.”

My heart hurts bitterly around this. Because something in me sees another world - a world in which it is possible to have two or more fathers, two or more mothers.

What a difference this would make to all the children of ‘divorced’ parents - what if we could leave that whole nonsense behind?

What a difference it would have made in my own upbringing…

My mothers in solidarity with each other.

My fathers in solitary with each other.

But this new earth is coming...

In my recent ‘Uniting Masculine and Feminine Workshop’ at Sattva Yoga Camp at Crops not Shops near Glastonbury - people shared stories of friends. Stories that were just about that: friendships that grew out of divorces. Stepfather and father going on a holiday with their sons… And one day maybe men are allowed to love and impregnate two women. And women are allowed to have many fathers.

This is why I feel so called to create the Sacred Union Podcast.

Not because I believe we’ll all be polyamorous in the future.

But because I want to tell the stories of people who are doing something that is in greater alignment with humanities purpose: to bring love into the density of this Earth.

I once saw, in a psychedelic vision, that the purpose of life on Earth is to learn how to bring love into every area of existence.

Into the shadows.

Into our most unconscious judgments. Into the raw, messy terrain of our relationships.

Loving does not mean tolerating harm.

Quite the opposite. Sometimes the most radical act of love is setting a boundary—with clarity, not contempt.

Sometimes it is walking away.

Sometimes it is saying the hardest truth.

But always, love demands truth.

Not the “one truth” of dogma, but the personal truth that sets you free.

The truth that strips away fear, shame, and projection until all that is left is love—messy, radiant, utterly human love.

This is Sacred Union.

Not perfect.

Not easy.

But yes, holy.
